Elizabeth Cook Finally Debuts Banned Song on Grand Ole Opry

It took awhile, but Elizabeth Cook finally got the opportunity to sing her controversial song “Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman” on Saturday to celebrate Jeannie Seely’s 50th anniversary on the Grand Ole Opry.   The song had been banned from being played on the Opry for nearly a decade, but got the green light from the new “brass” at the Opry this time.

“Elizabeth can get away with a lot of things nobody else can, but they told me I did too,” said Seely.  Cook added, “Playing ‘Balls To Be A Woman’ for Jeannie to celebrate this occasion was total case and point.  Without her blazing the trail, it wouldn’t have never happened.”
