of the TOP 40 Artists To Watch!
Grammy-nominated musician and producer David Mayfield is having quite a year following
the release of his debut album The David Mayfield Parade this past January. An Avett
Brothers and Mumford & Sons collaborator, DMP has toured nationally on the heels
of the new album as well as exclusive video premieres in both Paste and American
Songwriter. Now, along with a performance at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN in June,
DMP has been selected as one of Southwest Spirit Magazine's 40 Artists To Watch.
The issue is a special edition to coincide with the 40-year anniversary of Southwest
Airlines, and the magazine is seen by 3.4 million readers each month as it resides
in every seatback pocket on all Southwest jets. In addition to the nod in the magazine,
Apple has partnered with Southwest to offer free downloads of each of the 40 artists
on their new web based inAirtainment initiative.
His album "The
David Mayfield Parade" is an extension of his irrepressible energy on stage and
abundant love for the music that has inspired him over his young lifetime. It listens
like an AM radio record with strings and production born out of such classics as
Randy Newman's Sail Away or Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water but without
forgetting the fundamentals of rock-n-roll!

2.28.11:
Nashville, TN -- At 6:53 a.m. Saturday, a special dedication to mission specialist
Alvin Drew came by way of the familiar tune, "Woody's Roundup," performed by "America's
Favorite Cowboys" Riders In The Sky. The song was played to wake him and his fellow
crew members up for the final mission on the Space Shuttle Discovery.
"Woody's Roundup" a Riders In The Sky classic written by Randy Newman, was
played in dedication to Drew as it woke the crew to begin preparing for the last
docking to the International Space Station. The song is famously known for its use
on the Toy Story 2 sound track, and the Riders In The Sky recognize this new honor
as being out of this world. Ranger Doug says it best: "From the New Frontier to
the Final Frontier, it's the Cowboy Way!"
Following the soothing wake up call was a long day of preparation met by the hatches
being opened for the final time between the ISS and Discovery at 4:16p.m., prompting
the joint phase of the STS-133 mission. Both crews took part in a brief but exciting
welcoming ceremony which included handshakes and hugs as well as a brief exchange
of stories and adventures. The Shuttle arm then exchanged the ELC4 back for installation
on the stations's starboard trust after moving the base of Canadarm 2. It will now
be held there for spare parts, which includes a spare radiator.
This marks the final trip for the Discovery to the orbiting outlet.
The crews then went to work preparing the stations robotic arm to remove the Express
Logistic Carrier 4 from the shuttle's cargo bay and exchange it with the shuttle's
arm.
Being a part of history is something the Riders In The Sky team has been used to
for some time now, but taking their music outside the globe is something only a
few can claim as an accolade. When asked if space really was the final frontier
for the Riders In the Sky, bassist and funnyman Too Slim had only this to say: "Next
Stop: To infinity… and beyond!"

Nashville, TN -- Rootsy Folk Ensemble The Greencards have signed with Nashville
based New Frontier Touring for exclusive booking representation, with industry veteran
Logan Bosemer as the group's responsible agent. "I have long been a fan of The Greencards,
and this move makes complete sense," said Bosemer. "They are a perfect fit with
our roster and I jumped at the chance to work with such a great group of people."
With two Australian founding members, The Greencards are probably the least likely
Austin-formed/Nashville-based band you've ever heard. Their love and respect for
Americana, Bluegrass, Jazz and Country brought them together in 2003 and they have
since toured every inch of North America including stints with Bob Dylan and Willie
Nelson.
The band earned the Americana Music Award in 2006 for "Emerging Artist of the Year"
and landed Grammy nominations in 2008 and 2010 for "Best Country Instrumental Performance".
Their urge to challenge themselves and test the limits of any established genre
guided The Greencards--singer/bassist Carol Young and multi-instrumentalist Kym
Warner-- from Australia. Their meticulously crafted arrangements serve as springboards
for exhilarating improvisations.
Recent appearances on Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Cayamo Cruise, Austin City Limits
Festival, Lollapalooza and Merlefest have rounded out a very busy time for the band,
and they head into the studio in early 2011 to begin their next great album adventure.
Tour dates will follow for the U.S. and worldwide.
"Mandolinist Kym Warner exhibited some of Chris Thile's breathless flair, and electric
bassist-singer Carol Young adds some nice low-end heft on top of a set of pipes
that make grown men weak at the knees." - JamBase
"Takes on bluegrass, folk and country and something more stylish; deconstructed alt-rock
and pop played on acoustic instruments." - Nashville Scene
"...draws you in with tales of ancient lives, hope for the future and promises of
treasures." - No Depression

12.8.10: Nashville, TN -- Rural Rhythm Records is proud to announce
the signing of THE ROYS (Lee and Elaine) to the label and will release a new album
in March 2011.
"We are thrilled. The Roys are a perfect fit for our Rural Rhythm family," says
President, Sam Passamano, Jr. "Lee and Elaine have a true love and respect
for Bluegrass music and its traditions, alongside a deep appreciation for traditional
Country and a strong faith that will help Rural Rhythm to expand their musical boundaries.
We can't wait for Bluegrass lovers to experience The Roys and their band live."
THE ROYS' signing with Rural Rhythm Records is the last key element in the duo's
new power team. Managed by Entertainment Evolution, with publicity handled
by so much MOORE media and booking secured with New Frontier Touring, Lee
and Elaine are overjoyed to join the Rural Rhythm Records roster, which includes
Bluegrass favorites Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Lonesome River Band, Bobby Osborne,
Grasstowne, Michael Martin Murphey, Lou Reid, Rodney Dillard, Carrie Hassler, Blue
Moon Rising, Audie Blaylock, Bill Emerson, Randy Kohrs and many more.
"Rural Rhythm has a great reputation and we are honored that they believe in our
music and believe in who we are as artists," says Lee Roy. "We are extremely blessed
to be joining their roster," adds Elaine. "We are looking forward to a long journey
with them and creating great music in the future." The deal coincides with the label's
55th anniversary, and rounds out a talented team for THE ROYS.
The brother/sister duo hails from Fitchburg, MA, and their music is a surprisingly
fresh, Bluegrass sound that includes hints of Roots and traditional Country, and
its uniquely identifiable tone has brought them honors - and fans - from around
the globe. The two-time Inspirational Country Music Duo of the Year (2010,
2009) made their national television debut on the most-recent Jerry Lewis Muscular
Dystrophy Telethon in Las Vegas, and they've enjoyed heavy media exposure with multiple
People and Country Weekly magazine features to their credit. THE ROYS have performed
before President George W. Bush at Andrews Air Force Base; traveled to Bogota, Columbia
on an outreach mission for Compassion International, and entertained fans for years
at clubs, fairs and festivals.

Change was in the wind for The Grascals throughout 2010; the band parted ways with
Rounder Records after a successful six-year run and formed their own imprint, BluGrascal
Records. The band celebrated a terrific first year with New Frontier Touring, and
so much MOORE media joined The Grascals' team in March. At the helm of The Grascals'
ship is Entertainment Evolution, the group's artist management firm.
The Grascals' Jamie Johnson sums up the year perfectly, saying, "We worked hard,
we reaped a good bit of what we've sown, and we are continually blessed." The group
is shown here receiving #1 award plaques for THE FAMOUS LEFTY FLYNN'S, at
NorthStar Studios following the filming of Reno's Old Time Music Festival television

out May 25!
DARRELL SCOTT FEATURED IN ROBERT PLANT'S BAND OF JOY / NEW SOLO DOUBLE ALBUM "A CROOKED
ROAD" OUT MAY 25!
"...matching Guy Clark and Bruce Springsteen at their best." - Rolling Stone
Acclaimed musician and songwriter Darrell Scott has been tapped to join Robert Plant's
new project, Band of Joy. The super group, which includes Plant and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist
Scott alongside Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Byron House and Marco Giovino, will
embark on a series of tour dates this summer. An album featuring this line-up will
be released later this year on Rounder Records.
Preceding these tour dates, Full Light Records (via Thirty Tigers) will release
a special two-disc set from Scott entitled "A Crooked Road," on May 25th.
This is Scott's eighth solo album and follows his critically acclaimed 2008 release
"Modern Hymns," which the Boston Globe declared as "soaring" and "poignant."
Scott has consistently received praise from critics and fellow musicians alike...
USA Today described his 2006 release "The Invisible Man" as "brilliantly
clever", while legendary artist Robert Plant asserts of Scott "A beautiful voice
adrift in heartfelt song."
Recorded primarily at Scott's home studio in Nashville, the double album features
21 originally written tracks. In addition to penning each song, Scott played all
of the instruments on the record, including guitar, mandolin, lap steel, keyboard,
drums, bass, harp and cello. Of the project Scott says, "I set out to do two things
with this record. First, to play and sing all the music and, secondly, to collect
these songs that speak to this crooked road that I, only recently, recognized as
being a crooked road!"
Widely respected throughout the songwriting community, Scott has worked with numerous
world-renowned musicians, including Steve Earle, Joan Baez, Guy Clark and Jimmie
Dale Gilmore. Scott has also received two Grammy award nominations, including one
for "Best Country Song" for his Dixie Chicks hit "Long Time Gone." Additionally,
as part of the Bluegrass Dukes, Scott performed on Steve Earle's "Townes,"
which received a 2010 Grammy for "Best Contemporary Folk Album." In 2007, Scott
was awarded "Song of the Year" at the prestigious Americana Music Association Honors
& Awards ceremony held at the Ryman Auditorium for his song "Hank Williams' Ghost."
Scott has also been honored as ASCAP's "Songwriter of the Year."

3.25.09: The Avett Brothers Lure Rick Rubin With Earthy Mix
North Carolina band readies major label debut
I and Love and You

The Avett brothers recording in Malibu, California.
Over the course of a decade, the Avett Brothers (lead by Scott and Seth Avett) have
perfected a blend of bluegrass picking, country harmonies and rock & roll energy.
The mix of influences present in the band's rootsy work has inspired terms like
"folk-punk" and "grungegrass," though the North Carolina siblings avoid such labels.
The unique sound also attracted Rick Rubin, who signed the band to Columbia and
is producing their major-label debut, I and Love and You.
They transcend the genres they're coming from," says Rubin, whose own eclectic body
of work includes Slayer, Neil Diamond and Jay-Z.
The brothers crafted their sound on five independent albums released through Concord,
North Carolina's Ramseur Records. For their major label debut, the band toiled with
Rubin in Malibu and Asheville, North Carolina - a time they called "an experience
defined by heightened levels of commitment and conviction." The sessions yielded
cuts like the poppy "Slight Figure of Speech" and the autumnal, Wilco-style title
track. The brothers are road testing the material at SXSW this month and are gearing
up for summer dates with the Dave Matthews Band.
Despite the band's earthy sound, Scott Avett says "I and Love and You" was inspired
by an unlikely classic Rubin production: the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Blood Sugar
Sex Magik. "But without the heroin addiction," he adds.

07.07.08: Avett Brothers Recording New Album with Rick Rubin
Concord, NC's brotherly, AMERICANA-ROCK trio sign to Columbia imprint American Recordings
and prep new full-length with the hirsute producer.
According to a band website post yesterday (July 6), raucous,
beard-sporting TRIO the Avett Brothers -- who impressed us with their lively set
at Bonnaroo '08 -- have joined the likes of Neil Diamond, Weezer, and Jay-Z, tapping
another facial hair lover, industry honcho and knob-twiddler extraordinaire Rick
Rubin, to record their forthcoming fifth full-length.
And the Brothers won't just partner with Rubin in the studio: The trio has departed
longtime label Ramseur Records and inked with Rubin's Columbia imprint, American
Recordings. "With this union has come another, as we have just completed and signed
an agreement with American/Columbia Records, the label with whom we will proudly
release our next record," the post reads.
"The recording process has been, and will no doubt continue to be, an experience
defined by heightened levels of commitment and conviction," the band writes. "It
is our distinct pleasure and honor to be in such fine company as we build and bring
this most current chapter of songs to fruition."
An album title or release date has yet-to-be announced, but while you await further
details, catch the Avett Brothers as they tour North America this summer.
From the Band...
To our dearest fans,
Since we first performed as The Avett Brothers, we have been fortunate enough to
find and build a genuine and mutual respect with those who care to listen. It is
this kind exchange that champions our music, and allows us the forum to continue
on our path, with this work, this art. We believe this to be an appropriate time
for a brief update, as we would like for you all to know of the most noteworthy
of present developments.
We have recently begun working on a new full length album with Rick Rubin. The recording
process has been, and will no doubt continue to be, an experience defined by heightened
levels of commitment and conviction. It is our distinct pleasure and honor to be
in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to
fruition.
With this union has come another, as we have just completed and signed an agreement
with American/Columbia Records, the label with whom we will proudly release our
next record. It is our sincere hope, in regard to this news, that our ongoing relationship
with Ramseur Records is understood. There have been, and will be no hard feelings
or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps
remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally. There
has been no change in these matters through this momentous transition.
For all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation, we
continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentiment. The music would go
nowhere without you. Our hearts and our minds are on the recording of this next
album, and we look forward with great anticipation to sharing it with you all. Until
then, thank you as always, and we will see you somewhere on that open road...
Sincerely,
The Avett Brothers
