Darrell Scott Performs at 56th CMA Awards

Darrell Scott was tapped to join Chris Stapleton and Patty Loveless for a performance on the 56th CMA Awards show, aired on ABC TV.

Stapleton and Loveless sang “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive,” which was penned by Scott and was recorded by Loveless (and many others) for her 2001 album “Mountain Soul.”  Scott, who plays 13 different instruments, was recruited to play dobro for the occasion.  Stapleton and Loveless shared the lead vocal duties, trading verses, and Stapleton’s wife/bandmate Morgane sang harmony as well.  It was a rare live appearance for Loveless, a five-time CMA Award-winner, and the crowd showed their appreciation and enthusiasm by rising to their feet and clapping along as Loveless belted the final refrain.  Scott has one public show left on his 2022 calendar, a concert in Bristol VA at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum on Dec. 8th.
