WILL VARLEY
BIOGRAPHY
Over the past decade, Will Varley has become one of Britain’s most distinctive contemporary songwriters. His seventh studio album, Machines Will Never Learn to Make Mistakes Like Me, continues his exploration of the human condition, while conjuring strange, beautiful landscapes where salt-crusted pebbles crunch underfoot and snow pours in through the roofs of abandoned tour buses. These songs are rich, lyrical tales that speak of universal truths, hard touring, and the rebuilding of minds.
Over the years, Varley has earned the admiration of some of his most well-known peers. Support from Billy Bragg, The Libertines, Adam Duritz and Frank Turner has helped introduce his music to audiences around the world, while his catalogue has amassed more than 50 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music. Alongside his solo work, he has established himself as a co-writer and producer, collaborating with platinum-selling, CMA Award-winning and Grammy Award-winning artists.
Since playing candlelit open mics in South London at just 14 years old, Varley has gone on to sell out headline shows across Europe and the United States. He has performed on some of the world’s most iconic stages, including the Royal Albert Hall and Glastonbury Festival.
In 2024, Varley signed a worldwide recording deal with MNRK Music Group, joining a roster that includes The Lumineers, Mt. Joy and Gregory Alan Isakov. Machines Will Never Learn to Make Mistakes Like Me features guest appearances from Billy Bragg and Bastille. The album received widespread critical acclaim from Classic Rock and Rolling Stone, and reached No. 4 on the Official UK Americana Chart.
