- Steep Canyon Rangers announce 15th Studio Album "Next Act"
GRAMMY Award-winning bluegrass and Americana ensemble Steep Canyon Rangers have announced their 15th studio album Next Act with the release of the third single from the album, "Heart's the Only Compass (feat. Steve Martin)". Recorded by Julian Dreyer at Echo Mountain Recording in their home state of North Carolina and produced by Mike Ashworth and Steep Canyon Rangers themselves, Next Act represents a return to the band's bluegrass roots, honoring tradition while continuing to evolve within it. Of “Heart’s the Only Compass”, songwriter Graham Sharp offers: “It’s natural to look back at history, especially our personal history, and feel like things turned out in a way that makes perfect sense. After hearing some stories of my grandparents' younger days and seeing people around me learning about their family history through DNA tests, it struck me just how much of a crapshoot it is. When every daily choice seems monumental, it feels good to think that the generations before us didn’t know what they were doing anymore than we do. And the best you can do is follow your heart.” Listen to "Heart's the Only Compass (feat. Steve Martin)" below - Next Act releases May 22nd, 2026 on Yep Rock Records. Preorder available here .
- Forager on NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts!
After entering three Tiny Desk Contests and showing strong potential, Brooklyn based trio Forager made their debut on NPR's legendary Tiny Desk Concerts series. Producer Bobby Carter says "FORAGER's music takes the scenic route; it's witty and unpredictable, yet deceptively powerful and unable to fit into any specific genre. Wide-eyed and enamoured with the space, the Brooklyn-based band invited a host of friends and family to watch what feels like a homecoming show." "When I'm asked about what I look for in an entry to the Tiny Desk Contest, FORAGER is the band that I think about. All three of its Contest submissions have been featured on Top Shelf, the YouTube series that highlights our favorite entries, which means FORAGER has always been a strong contender. When we found out a few months ago that the band wouldn't return to the Contest because it had signed a record deal, we knew it was time to bring in FORAGER proper." - The Avett Brothers Uncover Long Lost “Matrimony” Music Video!
Today, The Avett Brothers released a previously unseen music video of “Matrimony”, a track that appears on their pivotal fourth studio album Four Thieves Gone: The Robbinsville Sessions , released on Ramseur Records in 2006. The music video was shot by filmmaker Tim Nackashi in a single day. The spur-of-the-moment approach to the video was much like the recording process of Four Thieves Gone , which was tracked live to tape at a rented house in Robbinsville, NC over ten days. “We shot on Super-8 with long lenses in a very run and gun fashion,” Nackashi recalls. “We only got a few takes in before we ran out of filmstock. I got the film developed and then moved across the country and kickstarted a new career… Those precious film reels lay dormant in a storage facility. The energy of The Avett Brothers’ performance leaps right off the emulsion. They were screaming their hearts out over the business district of Athens, GA. Damn, that was a great day.” Watch the “Matrimony” music video below:

- New Avett Brothers Album with Mike Patton, Coming November 14th
In one of this year's most unexpected musical pairings, The Avett Brothers have joined forces with Mike Patton, legendary frontman of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle for a collaborative album under the name AVTT/PTTN - the same name adopted by their new project. The unlikely pairing began organically via mutual admiration. Before long, the Avetts and Patton were trading songs and ideas across coasts, which ultimately blossomed into the nine-song album. Produced by Patton, Scott Avett and Grammy-winning engineer and longtime Avett collaborator Dana Nielsen, AVTT/PTTN is set to release on November 14th via Thirty Tigers in association with Ramseur Records and Ipecac Recordings. "[AVTT/PTTN] runs the gamut from the Avett Brothers’ stripped-down folk/roots sound to something more propulsive and unusual." - SPIN “Mike’s part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth,” says Scott Avett. “Literally, we studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him.” Patton speaks of the unlikely pairing - “My peculiar challenge in this was to become a long distant cousin, a brother that was orphaned. Maybe they kept him in the chicken coop or some shit. They brought him out years and years later.” "Surely one of the most unexpected collaborations of this (or any) year." - Consequence Listen to the AVTT/PTTN lead single, "Eternal Love": AVTT/PTTN Tracklist: 01.
